Gender & The 2018 Election
In Soloway's and Stacey Abrams article they both talk about what it's like to be a women in twenty eighteen. Soloway's article talks more about men and how they talk about women in a vulgar way. They use the words, "that" instead of saying lady or women. I believe in today's society men are so used to talking about women in a vulgar way they don't even think what they are doing is wrong. When I go out with my guy friends they all do it. They will stand in a circle and talk about a women's body and stare at her. They will refer to her as "that" and say what they like just from looking at her. Being a girl myself, I feel many women are used to men talking about women and discriminating them. As a whole men and women both need to stop discrimination and realize what they say before they say it. This relates to Zelle's article "Eleven and Gender Fluid," on how the mothers daughter was a transgender and when she would go in public people would say things about her because she was transgender. It shows you don't just need to be a women for discrimination to occur. Anything in today's society people don't agree with or see as "normal" they will put down. Abram's article talks more about women standing up and making a change. Many women who are running in the election are just running to show they can and hopefully make a change. It is shown that many people who run for office and are wealthy have a better chance of winning. Women in the article say they will run again next year even if they lose this year. People believe many women are running for office because they see Donald Trump running and if he can do it why can't they! This article connects to Land of Limitations in particular way because any person who runs for office and has money has a better chance of winning. Money allows them too promote themselves more. Many of the women running for office are less wealthy but are running for the purpose of making a change.
